Need your help to find information:
Few weeks ago a La-5FN was found near Ujszasz in Hungary, shot down on 16th of November 1944. He was most probably shot down by Oberleutnant Heinz Ewald in the late afternoon hours in low altitude after La-5FN pilot ran out of ammunition.
The La-5FN was most probably from 5th Air Army, 279th Brigade, 92th, 192th or 486th polk. The engine was found, but unfortunately for some reason the serial number on it was overwritten and became unreadable.
The guys who found and retieved the remains of the plane are looking for the name of the pilot.
Please, who has any information considering losses in Hungary on this day or has idea where to find it do not hasitate to let us know. Also if possible, please correct russian translation and post this on other forums as well.
