Yes may be it is this case (?). There were many incidents of self-shooting among young soldiers, who did not want to be send on the front line and make such mass self-injuring.
Other thing there was discovered a mass grave with Russian soldiers in the area of battle, and these buried could be killed during the combat. The almost 11.000 killed and died of wounds several months after the battle had to be buried in these areas (near or far from war zome).
